Kim Kardashian tearfully testified in a Paris courtroom on May 13, 2025, recounting the harrowing details of the 2016 armed robbery that left her fearing for her life. The incident, which took place during Paris Fashion Week, involved masked men posing as police officers who broke into her hotel room, tied her up, and stole over $6 million in jewelry, including a $4 million ring gifted by her late father.
Kardashian described the terrifying moments when she believed she might be assaulted. She recalled hearing footsteps approaching her room and initially thinking it was her sister Kourtney returning from a night out. However, upon seeing two men dressed as police officers, she realized something was amiss. The robbers bound her hands and mouth with duct tape, and one grabbed her legs, pulling her toward him. Kardashian mentally prepared herself for a sexual assault, but the attacker instead taped her legs together. She then feared for her life as one of the men pointed a gun at her head. "I just knew that was the moment they were totally going to shoot me in the head," she testified.
During the trial, a letter from one of the accused, Aomar Ait Khedache, expressed remorse for his actions. Kardashian responded with forgiveness but emphasized the enduring emotional trauma. She also addressed public skepticism, stating that the robbery was not staged for publicity, as some had claimed.
The ongoing trial involves 12 individuals, including one deceased and one excused for illness, collectively known as the "Grandpa Robbers." The defendants face charges such as armed robbery and kidnapping, with potential life imprisonment if convicted. The trial is expected to conclude on May 23, 2025.
